Parenting with “God” Day 15

Day 15 of 280

Remember this is from Parenting by Design from

Today we are talking about “Surrender”

Today’s study is a reference somewhat to gardening. We as parents have heard before that we are God’s representatives in the family, but that God is the true one that brings about the results he wants for our children. We are just like the gardener who waters the plants and makes sure they have what we can psychically give them to help them grow. However that plant can’t grow without God providing the sunlight, the nutrients from the earth. Our children are the same the way, we as parents are just the caretaker while God is the instrument that shows them the way.

As parents we can help our children learn about God in many different ways. We can share our life experiences where God has helped us. These can be as we grew up and seen things that we know could have only been God. Things that have happened to friends or even now as adults. Just brining God into our everyday life speaking of him, or asking what you do think God would think of that. Reading the bible together (a bible study that can involve both parent and child) has some good ones.

It is not easy to think that anyone can do a better job with your child than you cause you are the parent. You carried this child, you gave birth to this child, you have in many ways placed your life on hold for this child.. How can anyone love him/her more or better than me. Oh yes I have those same feelings and thoughts. But with 3 children and 2 of them being special needs I have had to look at things differently than I ever thought I would.

Here are my thoughts, in the past couple of days and as I sit here typing this I have started to think that it is not so much that God loves my children better or more than I do. However that with him knowing the whole picture where he has planned for them to go in life, makes his different than mine. Not better or him love them more than me, he just loves them in a different way cause he can see what their future holds, where they will be in 5 yrs., 15 yrs., or even in 50 yrs. We as parents cannot see that, we have our dreams of where they will be or what they will be doing. However we do not have the ability to make those dreams come true for our children, but God has that ability to make his plans come true for each of us.

We have to water the seed that God has placed in our garden, love that seed and let God guide us in how to bring that seed up to fill his plans for that seed not our dreams for that seed. Through prayer and faith in God we can do this.

Reference verses

6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Have you heard God’s voice today, if not he asked me to tell you that he loves you!!
