Day 14 of 280
Remember this is from Parenting by Design from youversion.com
Today we are talking about “Weakness v. Strength”
The word weakness or weak to many in the world means helpless and the word strength or strong to many means a combination of many things for example head of a company you know the power, money and lots of it, being very good looking can be considered a strength. However if one looks to God’s word they would find a very different way to look at these two words “weakness and strength”.
With the reading today it refers to Matthew 5-7 the Sermon and the Mount and how is reminds us who the strong one are. Now from the bible God’s word we have learned that God looks at strength as a person who relies on God not his-self, the ones who show strength for God are the ones who know and understand that they need him for strength, for wisdom and for knowledge. Now that leads me to assume that weakness or weak could refer to the one who do not place faith in God and rely solely on their own abilities.
Now the question is how do we want our children to see and understand these words “weakness and strength”! Do we want them thinking that if they ask for help they are weak or strong? I personally want my children to grow up and understand that when one needs help it is not showing weakness to ask for help. However at the same time I also want them to understand that when they do accomplish something they where not the only ones that had a hand it “God’s” hands where there too. For all things are done through him. I want them to have a full understanding of who God is and how he loves everyone. That if we trust and have faith in him he will provide for us. That he can make our dreams come true.
I also want them to understand the other side that if we do not trust and have faith in God that great things can happen to us however those same great things can come to an end and then we are left alone without anything and sometimes anyone in our lives.
We as parents need to make a choice as how we want our children to see and understand these words. For me knowing what I know today and with what wisdom I have from God I know I want my children too see these words they way God see’s them. Not the way the world betrays them as. I want my children to realize and understand that the world cannot and will not offer them what God can or does.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Have you heard God’s voice today, if not he asked me to tell you that he loves you!!
