Parenting with “God” Day 7

Day  of 280

Remember this is from Parenting by Design from youversion.com

Today we are talking about Learning to Say “NO”

Today’s lesson speak of Moses and how his father-n-law told him to needed to let others do some of the work instead of him trying to it alone.

As parents we need to learn this same lesson that we cannot do it all. That in order for our children to grow up and be strong adults that can take care of themselves we need to teach them responsibility now. Starting with small simple age appropriate chores that increase as they grow and mature.

We cannot do everything for our children if we do they will never learn till it is too late how to do for their selves. We need to teach our children how to choose what things are important to do and what things can wait to be done, this also includes afterschool actives such as sports, drama club, cheerleading. Now please I understand that these are all great actives, however there are also other things that are just as important if not more important than these things. As well I feel that we need to teach our children just as we teach ourselves by saying No that they can say No to some actives. That taking on too much is not healthy for them. Sometimes I feel that we as parents let our children take on too much cause we don’t want to say No you already have this, this and that. Adding one more is way to much for you and for me. However I truly feel that we would be better serving our children if we taught them that one or 2 things a month is better than a different thing each day of the week.

Reference verses

Exodus 18:17-18

17 And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

Have you heard God’s voice today, if not he asked me to tell you that he loves you!!
